FORWARD: THE MACRO BACKDROP FOR SAGA METALS
Before turning to SAGA itself, it is worth setting out the market backdrop for the metals in its portfolio. Over the past 18 months, critical minerals have moved from a commodity theme to a matter of trade policy, defence planning and, increasingly, direct government balance-sheet support. That shift matters for a company whose projects span titanium, vanadium, iron, heavy rare earths, uranium and lithium.
Governments have moved from strategy documents to capital.
In February 2026, Washington unveiled Project Vault, a critical minerals reserve of roughly US$12 billion built around up to US$10 billion in Export-Import Bank financing to buy and store strategic materials on U.S. soil. Glencore and Mercuria were onboarded as founding supply partners in September. The U.S. Department of Defense has also shown it is prepared to underwrite prices directly, granting MP Materials a 10-year floor of US$110/kg for NdPr products.
Canada is moving in the same direction. Ottawa launched its C$2 billion Critical Minerals Sovereign Fund in July 2026 and announced its first equity-like investment. That sits alongside a C$1.5 billion First and Last Mile Fund, new funding for a critical and dual-use minerals stockpiling regime, and a G7-backed Critical Minerals Production Alliance that has now supported roughly C$18.5 billion in project capital. Layered on top is NATO’s commitment to lift defence and security spending toward 5% of GDP by 2035, which feeds directly into demand for aerospace alloys, permanent magnets and specialty steels.
Titanium: The West’s quiet dependency.
Titanium is the clearest example of the gap that SAGA’s Radar and Garneau projects are positioned against. The United States has been effectively 100% import-reliant for titanium sponge, the metal feedstock for aerospace and defence alloys, since its Henderson, Nevada plant went idle in 2020. It imported roughly 44,000 tonnes in 2025. China alone produced around 220,000 tonnes of sponge in 2024, well over half of global output, while Russian supply has been constrained by U.S. sanctions on VSMPO-AVISMA. With aerospace build rates recovering and defence budgets rising, secure titanium feedstock from allied jurisdictions has become a strategic priority, not simply a pricing story.
Vanadium: Strategic, but the price is not doing the work.
Vanadium deserves a more measured view. Prices remain subdued: Chinese ferrovanadium (FeV50) was quoted at roughly 87,000 yuan per tonne in early October with little movement, reflecting soft Chinese steel demand and ample supply from China and Russia, which together dominate world output. The strategic case rests instead on that supply concentration and on vanadium’s role in high-strength steels, aerospace titanium alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V, and vanadium redox flow batteries for grid storage. For Radar, we view vanadium as a valuable co-product alongside titanium and iron rather than the sole driver of project economics.
Heavy Eare Earths: The November 10 deadline.
Heavy rare earths are where the macro tension is most acute. China processes an estimated 99% of the world’s heavy rare earths. Its April 2025 licensing regime for seven medium and heavy rare earths, including dysprosium and terbium, remains in force, while a broader October 2025 package of controls was suspended for one year. That pause is scheduled to expire on November 10, 2026. Outside China, dysprosium has been assessed at around US$3,250/kg and terbium oxide at around US$7,500/kg delivered to North America, several times domestic Chinese prices. In the U.S., a ban on Chinese-sourced magnets in defence systems takes full effect on January 1, 2027. This is the backdrop against which Wolverine’s reported heavy rare earth fraction of roughly 24–28% of TREO should be read.
Uranium: Term prices at record levels.
Long-term uranium contract prices reached an all-time high of about US$96/lb in August 2026, surpassing the 2007 peak, while spot prices ended the third quarter near US$89.50/lb. Utilities are returning to term contracting, 39 countries now back the pledge to triple global nuclear capacity by 2050, and large-reactor build programs in the U.S. are attracting financing commitments. Double Mer remains early-stage, but it sits in a jurisdiction and commodity where the market backdrop is constructive.
Lithium: The cyclical exception.
Lithium is the one SAGA commodity facing a cyclical headwind. Chinese lithium carbonate futures fell to about 104,700 yuan per tonne on October 12, roughly half their May 2026 peak, on concerns about oversupply in 2027. We view the Legacy project as long-dated optionality rather than a near-term driver of value.
SAGA’s commodity exposure at a glance
Commodity | SAGA Project(s) | Macro Signal (October 2026) |
Titanium | Radar, Garneau | Strong strategic pull: U.S. ~100% import-reliant for sponge; defence and aerospace demand rising |
Vanadium | Radar (co-product) | Strategic, but prices subdued on soft Chinese steel demand |
Iron | Radar (co-product) | Bulk co-product; adds to recoverable value if metallurgy succeeds |
Heavy rare earths | Wolverine | Acute: China controls ~99% of processing; export-control pause ends Nov 10 |
Uranium | Double Mer | Constructive: term price at record levels |
Lithium | Legacy | Cyclical headwind: prices roughly halved since May |
What it means for SAGA.
Taken together, the macro picture is uneven but supportive where it counts most. Titanium and heavy rare earths, the commodity groups behind Radar and Wolverine, sit at the centre of Western supply-security policy, and governments on both sides of the border are now deploying capital rather than simply publishing strategies. Policy tailwinds do not create mineral resources, and they do not guarantee financing or offtake for any individual company. But they do raise the strategic value of well-located, quantified critical mineral resources in stable jurisdictions, which is precisely the stage SAGA is now approaching.
THE RACE TO SECURE NORTH AMERICA’S CRITICAL MINERALS
For decades, North America has led the world in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing and technological innovation. But behind these industries lies a growing vulnerability: the Western world remains heavily dependent on foreign-controlled supply chains for many of the critical minerals required to build its most advanced technologies.
From fighter jets and military equipment to electric motors, energy storage and high-performance industrial applications, access to titanium, vanadium and heavy rare earth elements has become increasingly important.
And in today’s geopolitical environment, that dependence is no longer simply an economic concern.
It’s a matter of national security.
Canada and the United States are accelerating efforts to secure domestic and allied supplies of critical minerals, recognizing that mineral independence requires more than identifying resources. It requires the ability to extract, process and ultimately deliver those materials into Western supply chains.
But while governments are committing capital and introducing policies to strengthen critical mineral security, an essential challenge remains:
Where will the next generation of North American critical mineral resources come from?
That’s where SAGA Metals Corp. (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) enters the picture.
SAGA has assembled a portfolio of five wholly owned critical mineral projects across Labrador and Quebec, with exposure to titanium, vanadium, iron, heavy rare earth elements, lithium and uranium.
At the center of its portfolio is the Radar Critical Minerals Project in Labrador, where the company has completed an extensive drilling campaign targeting a potentially large titanium-vanadium-iron mineralized system.
And the timing is particularly interesting.
SAGA has completed 22,432 metres of drilling across 85 holes at Radar’s Trapper Zone, with oxide mineralization reported in every hole. With final assays reported on October 14 and the complete database handed to independent consultant GeoGlobal LLC, the company is now advancing toward its maiden NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate, targeted for Q4 2026.
Meanwhile, its Wolverine Heavy Rare Earth Element Project has progressed into diamond drilling, creating a second potential resource-definition opportunity within a strategically important commodity group.
The investment opportunity lies in this transition.
SAGA Metals Corp. (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) is moving beyond early-stage exploration toward the point where its geological potential could begin translating into quantifiable mineral resources.
And with North America increasingly prioritizing critical mineral supply security, the company’s approaching technical milestones could carry significance well beyond the drilling results themselves.
For investors, we believe this creates a compelling question:
Could SAGA be approaching the resource-definition milestone that changes how the market values its critical mineral assets?
WHY SAGA, AND WHY NOW?
Junior mining companies are often valued on exploration potential long before they can demonstrate a meaningful mineral resource.
But the transition from geological discovery to resource definition can be a pivotal stage.
For SAGA, four developments make the current setup particularly interesting.
- A Major Drilling Campaign Is Complete
SAGA completed its 22,432-metre Trapper drilling program in August 2026, building a substantial geological database ahead of its maiden mineral resource estimate.
- A Large Mineralized System Remains Open for Exploration
Radar encompasses approximately 24,175 hectares, including a mapped intrusive complex of roughly 160 km². High-resolution geophysics identified an approximately 29 km² central oxide lopolith encompassing Trapper, Hawkeye and the largely untested Falcon Zone.
- Metallurgical Work Is Already Advancing
Rather than waiting until after resource definition, SAGA has initiated metallurgical testing, reporting encouraging early recovery results including 90.8% titanium, 97.4% vanadium and 91.5% iron.
- A Second Discovery Opportunity Is Emerging
At Wolverine, the company has moved into diamond drilling after identifying near-surface rare earth mineralization with a meaningful heavy rare earth component up to 28%.
The combination is important: SAGA (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) has substantial drilling behind it, multiple technical catalysts ahead, and exposure to minerals increasingly relevant to North American industrial security.
RADAR: THE FLAGSHIP RESOURCE THAT COULD CHANGE THE STORY
Located approximately 10 kilometres from Cartwright, Labrador, SAGA’s 100%-owned Radar Project is the foundation of its investment thesis.
Source: SAGA Metals Corp. corporate presentation (Q3 2026).
The project targets titanium, vanadium and iron mineralization hosted within the Dykes River layered mafic intrusion.
Unlike isolated narrow mineralized structures, Radar’s geological setting contains extensive layers of vanadiferous titanomagnetite and ilmenite, creating the potential for significant mineralized tonnage.
That potential has been supported by SAGA’s drilling campaign.
22,432 METRES DRILLED (AND THE RESULTS CONTINUE TO DELIVER)
In August, SAGA announced the completion of its maiden resource drilling program at Trapper.
The program totaled 85 drill holes and 22,432 metres, with oxide mineralization identified throughout the campaign.
But what makes the results particularly noteworthy is the combination of significant mineralized widths, recurring grades and apparent geological continuity.
Recent drilling continues to reinforce the potential scale of mineralization at Radar, including:
Drill Hole | Interval | Fe₂O₃ | TiO₂ | V₂O₅ |
R-0085 | 495.6 m | 37.86% | 5.51% | 0.273% |
Including | 68.2 m | 52.95% | 8.57% | 0.381% |
R-0075 | 485.4 m | 32.21% | 5.30% | 0.191% |
Including | 56.8 m | 49.56% | 8.17% | 0.339% |
R-0072 | 470.0 m | 36.72% | 5.40% | 0.245% |
Including | 69.2 m | 51.03% | 8.55% | 0.334% |
- R-0085: 495.6 metres at 37.86% Fe₂O₃, 5.51% TiO₂ and 0.273% V₂O₅ (October 7, 2026)
- R-0075: 485.4 metres at 32.21% Fe₂O₃, 5.30% TiO₂ and 0.191% V₂O₅ (September 23, 2026)
- R-0072: 470 metres at 36.72% Fe₂O₃, 5.40% TiO₂ and 0.245% V₂O₅ (September 15, 2026)
These are reported downhole intervals, not necessarily true thicknesses. Iron grades are expressed as Fe₂O₃ rather than elemental iron.
The October 7 results are especially noteworthy, with hole R-0085 returning nearly 500 metres of continuous reported mineralization, including higher-grade sections.
These results do not establish economic viability, but they continue strengthening the geological database being used for resource estimation.
For a potentially large mineral system, continuity is critical.
A single high-grade drill intercept can attract attention. But repeated, substantial mineralized intervals across a drilling program are what begin building the foundation for a meaningful resource.
THE MAIDEN RESOURCE IS ONLY THE FIRST STEP
Radar’s broader geological potential extends well beyond the Trapper drilling area.
A high-resolution geophysical survey completed in 2026 outlined a 29 km² central oxide lopolith that encompasses the Trapper, Hawkeye and Falcon zones.
The significance is straightforward.
The maiden resource will focus on the drilled Trapper area, while much of the broader prospective zones remain available for future exploration.
If additional drilling demonstrates continuity beyond the initial resource footprint, $SAGA could have opportunities to expand its mineral inventory.
Importantly, geophysical targets are not mineral resources, and their economic significance remains unproven.
But the existing geological footprint gives investors a clear reason to follow future resource expansion work.
AN INFRASTRUCTURE ADVANTAGE IN LABRADOR
Radar also benefits from its location near Cartwright, where existing regional infrastructure includes road access, an airport, port facilities and nearby hydroelectric infrastructure.
Source: sagametals.com.
SAGA Metals Corp. (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) has already demonstrated some of these logistical advantages during exploration, developing ground access that reduced reliance on helicopter-supported drilling.
For large-tonnage mineral projects, infrastructure matters.
Transportation, energy and processing requirements can materially affect development costs.
Although mine-specific infrastructure and economic studies will still be required, Radar’s proximity to existing facilities could become an important advantage as the project advances.
METALLURGY: UNLOCKING THE VALUE OF THREE STRATEGIC METALS
One of the most important questions facing any titanium-vanadium-iron project is whether the minerals can be economically separated and recovered.
Discovering mineralization is only the first step.
Turning that mineralization into commercially viable products is what ultimately determines a project’s economic potential.
This is why SAGA’s recent metallurgical progress deserves attention.
The company has partnered with Temas Resources to evaluate its proprietary Regenerative Chloride Leach (RCL) technology.
These represent preliminary laboratory results rather than commercial recovery assumptions, but they provide an encouraging starting point.
On September 29, SAGA announced the commencement of Stage 2 metallurgical optimization, aimed at refining processing parameters and producing initial high-purity titanium, vanadium and iron product samples.
The program is also intended to generate engineering data that could support future pilot-scale testing.
We believe this is an important development.
The maiden resource could begin establishing how much mineralized material Radar contains. Metallurgical testing will help determine how much of its metal content might eventually be economically recoverable.
Those two workstreams are complementary.
If $SAGA can establish a meaningful resource and demonstrate a repeatable, economically viable processing pathway, the project could begin progressing toward preliminary economic assessment.
That remains a future milestone, but the technical groundwork is already under way.
WOLVERINE: A SECOND OPPORTUNITY IN HEAVY RARE EARTHS
While Radar remains the principal near-term catalyst, SAGA’s Wolverine Heavy Rare Earth Element Project adds another strategically important dimension.
Located in Labrador’s Flowers River region, Wolverine targets rare earth mineralization hosted within near-surface volcanic rocks.
Source: SAGA Metals Corp. corporate presentation (Q3 2026).
The company has identified a substantial prospective mineralized tuff unit, with exploration results indicating an elevated proportion of heavy rare earth oxides.
This matters because heavy rare earth elements are important inputs in high-performance magnets and advanced defense, industrial and energy technologies.
Several of these supply chains remain highly concentrated internationally.
EARLY RESULTS POINT TO POTENTIAL
Previous reverse-circulation drilling at Wolverine included: 48.8 METRES AT 0.77% TOTAL RARE EARTH OXIDES (TREO) including: 18.3 METRES AT 1.06% TREO.
The company has also reported heavy rare earth oxides representing approximately 24–28% of TREO in relevant exploration results.
Source: SAGA Metals Corp. corporate presentation (Q3 2026).
That enrichment is an interesting characteristic of the mineralization, although the project’s individual rare earth distribution, mineralogy and recoverability remain important unresolved questions.
DIAMOND DRILLING IS UNDERWAY
In September 2026, SAGA commenced a diamond-drilling program of up to 5,000 metres at Wolverine.
Initial drilling intersected the targeted rare earth-bearing volcanic unit, including approximately 169 metres of prospective tuff in the first 182-metre hole.
Source: SAGA Metals news release.
A second hole approximately 200 metres away also intersected the target horizon.
The program is designed to better understand the geometry, continuity and mineralization of the system, with the longer-term objective of supporting resource-definition work.
Management intends to combine these new diamond-drill assays with historical drill results to support resource-definition work, which could allow Wolverine to advance toward a compliant resource sooner than a purely greenfield project. That outcome will depend on assay results, continuity and independent review.
This creates a separate source of potential near-term value.
SAGA (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) is advancing a titanium-vanadium-iron resource opportunity at Radar while simultaneously testing a heavy rare earth discovery at Wolverine.
That gives investors exposure to two distinct projects aligned with the broader push toward North American critical mineral supply security.
Beyond these two flagship opportunities, SAGA also controls the Garneau Titanium Project in Quebec, acquired from Rio Tinto Exploration Canada following the company’s former JV, alongside the earlier-stage Double Mer Uranium and Legacy Lithium projects.
These provide additional long-term exploration optionality, although we believe Radar and Wolverine should remain the primary focus of the current investment thesis.
THE RE-RATING OPPORTUNITY: FROM EXPLORER TO RESOURCE-STAGE COMPANY
Ultimately, we believe this is where the investment case becomes most interesting.
SAGA’s rough Q3 2026 corporate figures indicated approximately 107.1 million basic shares outstanding, with roughly 139 million shares on a fully diluted basis.
In early October, the company’s market capitalization was estimated in the low-to-mid C$40 million range; these figures fluctuate with the share price.
At that valuation, investors are evaluating a company with substantial drilling completed at Radar, but without a published maiden mineral resource or established project economics.
That creates both uncertainty and potential opportunity.
The market currently has to value much of Radar’s mineralized system on exploration potential rather than on a quantified resource inventory.
The maiden NI 43-101 estimate could change that.
A resource would provide investors with a more concrete framework for evaluating tonnage, grade and classification, alongside existing infrastructure and metallurgical results.
It could also provide a stronger technical foundation for future economic studies and potential strategic discussions.
Of course, the size, quality and economic characteristics of that resource will matter.
A compliant estimate does not automatically justify a higher valuation.
But if the resource demonstrates meaningful scale and continuity, and subsequent metallurgy supports commercial recovery potential, $SAGA could begin attracting attention from investors evaluating more advanced mineral resource projects.
That is the potential re-rating opportunity.
And it does not depend exclusively on Radar.
Wolverine’s ongoing diamond-drilling program introduces an additional exploration catalyst, while the company’s participation in the U.S. Defense Industrial Base Consortium provides a potential connection to broader critical mineral supply-chain initiatives.
Consortium membership does not constitute government financing or an offtake agreement, but it reinforces the strategic relevance of the commodities SAGA is exploring.
For investors, the central question is whether upcoming technical milestones can begin converting that strategic relevance into demonstrable project value.
UPCOMING CATALYSTS: WHAT INVESTORS SHOULD WATCH
Several developments could materially influence SAGA’s investment case over the coming months.
- Radar Maiden NI 43-101 Resource – Q4 2026 Target
The company’s first formal resource estimate is the most significant near-term milestone. Investors will be watching for tonnage, grade, classification and geological continuity.
- Final Radar Drill Assays: Now Complete
SAGA reported the final assays from holes R-0088 to R-0092 on October 14, completing the assay database for all 85 Trapper holes. Highlights included 188.9 m at 39.54% Fe₂O₃, 5.94% TiO₂ and 0.285% V₂O₅ in R-0092. The validated database has been handed to GeoGlobal LLC for independent resource modelling, removing this item as an outstanding catalyst ahead of the maiden estimate.
- Stage 2 Metallurgical Results
Continued RCL optimization and initial high-purity product testing could help clarify Radar’s processing potential and inform decisions on pilot-scale work.
- Wolverine Diamond Drill Results
Assays and step-out drilling will be essential to determining whether Wolverine can progress toward a maiden heavy rare earth mineral resource.
- Resource Expansion and Economic Studies in 2027
Management’s proposed development pathway includes additional Radar drilling, potential resource updates and preliminary economic assessment work.
All target dates remain subject to financing, technical results and execution.
THE RISKS
Despite the potential catalysts, $SAGA remains a high-risk exploration-stage company.
The maiden Radar resource could be smaller or lower grade than investors anticipate. Early metallurgical recoveries may not translate into commercially viable processing economics. Wolverine remains without a compliant resource, and its mineralization requires further testing.
Future development will require additional capital, potentially resulting in shareholder dilution. Commodity pricing, permitting, infrastructure requirements and project execution also introduce uncertainty.
The upside case depends on successful resource definition, metallurgical advancement and ultimately an economically credible development pathway – none of which is guaranteed.
THE SPARTAN CONCLUSION: THE RESOURCE COULD CHANGE THE CONVERSATION
North America is entering a new era of critical mineral competition.
Governments are prioritizing secure supply chains. Defense and industrial manufacturers are increasingly focused on access to strategically important materials. And Western economies are confronting the consequences of decades of dependence on concentrated foreign mineral processing and supply.
The race to secure North America’s critical minerals is no longer simply an investment theme. It is becoming a long-term industrial priority.
But building secure supply chains starts with identifying and defining the resources required to support them.
That is what makes SAGA (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) interesting today.
At its flagship Radar Project, the company has completed more than 22,000 metres of drilling, demonstrated extensive titanium-vanadium-iron mineralization, and is approaching its first NI 43-101 resource estimate.
Recent drilling continues to reinforce the potential scale of the mineralized system, with intercepts approaching 500 metres and an extensive geophysical corridor that provides additional exploration potential.
Metallurgical work is advancing alongside resource definition, addressing one of the most important technical challenges facing the project.
And at Wolverine, a second exploration opportunity is emerging in heavy rare earth elements – another commodity group central to the discussion around Western industrial and defense supply security.
Together, these developments position $SAGA at an important stage in its evolution.
The company has moved beyond simply identifying prospective ground. It is now working to demonstrate what its discoveries may actually contain and whether those minerals can be recovered economically.
The upcoming resource is not a guarantee of commercial success or a market re-rating.
But it represents an opportunity to begin replacing exploration uncertainty with measurable geological information.
And for a junior company with a relatively modest valuation, multiple strategic mineral projects and several approaching technical milestones, that transition could be meaningful.
The drilling has established the geological foundation. The next stage is about demonstrating its resource potential, advancing metallurgy and determining whether Radar can become a viable development opportunity.
For investors following the push to rebuild North America’s critical mineral supply chains, we believe SAGA Metals Corp (TSXV: SAGA | OTCQX: SAGMF) deserves a closer look.
THE LAND HAS BEEN SECURED.
THE DRILLING HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
AND THE RESOURCE COULD CHANGE THE CONVERSATION.
